WHAT IS THE CDCP
(CANADIAN DENTAL CARE PLAN)?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program designed to make essential dental services more affordable for eligible Canadians. It provides partial or full coverage based on household income and is being rolled out in phases across the country.
At Citadel Dental, we are proud to be a participating provider and are happy to support patients in understanding and using their CDCP benefits.

WHO'S ELIGBLE?
To qualify for the CDCP, you must:
-
Not have access to private dental insurance
-
Have a family net income under $90,000
-
Be a Canadian tax resident
-
Have filed your 2023 income taxes
The program is currently available to:
-
Seniors aged 65 and older
-
Children under 18
-
Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit (DTC)
Starting May 2025, the CDCP will expand to include eligible adults aged 18–64.
HOW MUCH WILL THE CDCP COVER?
Coverage amounts are based on your household’s adjusted net income. Depending on your income level, the CDCP may cover a portion—or all—of your eligible dental treatment costs. Use the chart below to see what you might expect to pay:
Household Income | Coverage Through CDCP | Out-of-Pocket Cost |
---|---|---|
$80,000–$89,999 | 40% of eligible fees | 60% + any difference in cost |
$70,000–$79,999 | 60% of eligible fees | 40% + any difference in cost |
Under $70,000 | 100% of eligible fees | 0% (unless clinic fees exceed CDCP rates) |
NOTE ON EXTRA COSTS
You may have out-of-pocket expenses if your treatment isn't covered under the CDCP, or our clinic fees are higher than the CDCP fee guide.
We’ll always review costs with you beforehand so there are no surprises.
